Hour of Slack # 1168 -- The Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Dr. Hal Show, Part 1

Recorded at the Brushwood stage before a live audience on July 5, 2008, this Hour of Slack is, by popular demand, almost entirely the learned banter of Dr. Hal and Lonesome Cowboy Dave, with only smatterings of Rev. Stang, Princess Wei, Mister F. LeMur and Norel Pref. We do however get to hear two complete classic songs from the late Chas Smith's band, Einstein's Secret Orchestra.

Vacation for June 11, 2007

Field recordist Fabian Klenk writes of today's vacation, 'In Hampi, in the state of Karnataka in southwestern India, I took a room on the side of the small river in the more isolated Virupapur Gaddi area. It overlooked the rice fields and was far from the tourist crowds. Every evening, after sunset, the fields would burst with sounds from frogs, toads, and insects. Late on my last evening there, I went into the fields, sat down, and recorded this with my iRiver H340 (on which I run the open-source third-party Rockbox firmware) and Soundman OKM II binaural microphones. Everytime I listen to it, I want to go back!' [And everytime I hear it, I want to go! -Aaron]
